Finding hidden dangers around your business or home
Regular checking of your portable electrical equipment for safety hazards can prevent personal injury and property damage and it can save you money in costly repairs.
Some of the dangers associated with faulty portable electrical equipment include explosion of the appliance itself or parts from it, fire risks or electrocution.
The more serious faults can even cause damage to your home or business.
Altertech Secure use a portable appliance tester (PAT) to test your appliance and a thermal printer to print and tag on site.
Workplace Safety
Following state electrical safety and work health and safety regulations, Altertech Secure use the current Australian standard, AS/NZS 3760:2010 to conduct its test and tag service.
Our purpose is to make safety compliance easy for you!
Visual Inspection
Starting with a visual inspection of your appliance, inside and out, from the cord, powerpoint and the appliance itself, looking for crossed wires, damaged wires, loose parts, foreign objects, and faulty covers.
These can give vital clues to any dangers that may be affecting the use of the appliance and potential dangers.
Electrical Test
Once the appliance has been checked visually, our electricians will test the electrical function using the PAT.
Our test equipment measures the polarity, insulation and earth resistance, and leakage current of the appliance to ensure everyone’s safety.
If the all clear is given, a tag is printed on site and attached to your appliance.
If Altertech Secure finds any fault with the appliance, we will recommend the next step of action – this could be to fix the appliance, or replace it.
